The Spring Creek House at Camp Breac

“Donn Breac” – Means wild brown trout in Gaelic

Please note that our core mission and purpose at the Spring Creek House is to serve active duty, veterans and their families, first responders, in a serene and natural setting along Spring Creek. While serving these individuals, our team actively stewards the land, water, and wildlife that surrounds us.

While everyone is welcome to our property, the Spring Creek House is a shared space. If you are not comfortable with seeing veterans or their family members, first responders, active duty personnel, or conservationists on the grounds of the Spring Creek House, please do not inquire about booking. This is a comfortable place to relax, learn, and recreate. This is the sole reason we are in operation today. Thank you, we look forward to sharing this special place with you and your friends and family soon!

Wild Brown Trout

Camp Breac gets its name from the wild brown trout that can be found in the waters of Spring Creek.

“Donn Breac” – Means Wild Brown in Old Irish (Gaelic)

Camp Breac is on some of Pennsylvania’s finest waters. The property is nestled in Bellefonte along the banks of Spring Creek within the Spring Creek Watershed. The Spring Creek House is only a short distance from the Main Campus of Penn State and runs through the headwaters of Spring Creek, and through the tributaries of Bald Eagle Creek, Slab Cabin Run, and Thompson Run, and is near Penn’s Creek, Spruce Creek, the Little Juniata, and many other streams flowing onward to the Susquehanna River and beyond.

A Family Destination

This is the Happy Angler and local fly fisherman known as Lynn.

We are streamside by the beautiful Spring Creek— a destination ideal for the whole family to enjoy! Come and fish in Spring Creek or relax in our rocking chairs as the kids play make-believe in our play castle and many other amenities.

Camp Breac Supports Veterans

Camp Breac and the Spring Creek House are designed to support the Armed Forces of the United States, veterans, and their families, the arts community, the Penn State Nation, as well as those supporting the conservation and protection of natural resources.

Fly tying on Victoria’s Landing led by Navy vet Joe Humphreys

The Donegal vets fly tying and looking good on Victoria’s Landing at Camp Breac and the Spring Creek House. Leading the troops is the iconic fly fisherman and Navy vet Joe Humphreys, founder of the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Joe is quoted as saying, “Jim, if you and the guys can’t catch a fish here, I will buy your rod.” Joe teaches our streamside mentors and guides how to instruct experienced and aspiring anglers.

“Find a quiet place, use a humble pen.”
